ABOUT SANTOS SAL GARCIA:

Santos Sal Garcia was born and raised in East Los Angeles located in Southern California, graduated from local schools and started his photography business while attending East Los Angeles College.

GLOBAL PHOTO USA:

GPUSA was founded in 1965 by Santos "Sal" Garcia and over the years he has taken thousands of nature, scenic, sports, wedding and commercial photography for family, friends and clients. Today, Sal continues to photograph local coalition surfing events and contests along the California coastline.

UNITED STATES ARMY:

After entering the United States Army and assigned to an Aviation Unit he volunteered for duty in Vietnam and soon became a seasoned Vietnam Combat Veteran and photographer while serving as a Helicopter Crew Chief / Door Gunner on board a Huey UH-1B Gun Ship attached to the 116th Assault Helicopter Company 269th Combat Aviation Battalion known as the Hornets and assigned to the Gun Ship Platoon known as the "Stingers" in Cu Chi, Republic of Vietnam 1966~1967 where he earned several Air Medals and the Army Commendation Medal with "V" device for Valor.

LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER:

After his 1966 - 1967 Vietnam Army Aviation tour of duty Sal continued using his photography skills as a Law Enforcement Officer until 1981 when he retired due to job related injuries. Sal is also a former Law Enforcement Officer, California Licensed Private Investigator-Fraud Investigator since 1982 and President of the San Diego County Investigator’s Association and a Coalition Club Surf Photographer with Global Photo USA Photography based in San Diego, California.

COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR JOHNNY E. HOLMAN lll

Johnny E. Holman was one of Sal’s door gunner's in 1967. Holman after being wounded by heavy enemy automatic weapons fire remained in the Army and became CSM Johnny E. Holman III. Here is my video tribute to him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-UMKB0znXQ
